Help for Haiti

It is hard for us to imagine the devastation and grief of the people of Haiti, the Western Hemisphere’s poorest nation, in the wake of the natural disaster now wreaking havoc on an increasingly desperate population. With relief efforts now under way, the crisis in Haiti continues and will continue for some time. If you would like to donate to the relief effort directly, two charities are of particular note for their efficiency at getting help where it is needed and keeping administrative costs at a minimum.Episcopal Relief & Development and the International Rescue Committee are both rated at four stars (highest rating) by Charity Navigator, a watchdog group that monitors the administrative and advertising costs of various charities. Their web addresses appear below.

Direct, secure donation is the fastest way to aid in the relief effort. For those who do not have internet access, please know that all checks made out to St. Paul’s and dropped into the collection plate with the notation “Haitian Relief” will be routed to the relief effort as quickly as possible. The need is great, so please give whatever you can.

Tale of Two Chapels

You've probably heard the buzz about our soon-to-be children's chapel—the kids are all excited about it; so is Mr. Pack; and so am I!  In line with the spirit of the Children’s Charter for the Church [see inside], the old rectory living room is being converted into a unique chapel for the children of St. Paul’s.  To be dedicated as “St. Nicholas’ Chapel” in honor of the patron saint of children, the children of our church school and our preschool will soon have a place of their own for worship. — Emil+
