Upcoming at St. Paul's

Attention, shoppers! Shopko has $20 backpacks on sale right now for $10, and RC Willey is selling backpacks (with some school supplies included) for $5 - just for going in! - until the end of the month (limit 6). What a great time to buy for our annual drive to provide school supplies to needy kids (which I'm sure will be kicking off before too long)!

Amy Conn is offering her 2nd annual Summer Yoga Camp for kids of all ages here at St. Paul’s next week (July 26-30) from 9:00 am to noon! The camp is story-themed and integrates cooking, art, music, and movement with the yoga. The cost is $125, and scholarships are available. Contact Amy at Connjob@earthlink.net or (801)809-0713.

We now have FOUR of the six volunteers (one per weekday and a back-up) needed to staff a Meals on Wheels route in the church’s neighborhood. Only an hour a week is asked; if we got 11 volunteers, it would be only an hour every other week! Contact the office for more details if you’re interested in this outreach ministry.

It’s never too hot for coffee! Please sign up to host a coffee hour. The sign-up sheet is located in the parish hall, and volunteers are truly needed. Hosting is easy and fun, and a volunteer can be reimbursed up to $50 for simple refreshments. All other coffee supplies are provided. Any questions, please call Lori Morris 801.898.8646. This is a simple ministry which allows us some time to spend together before a busy week.

The Gift Shop is teaching people to knit and crochet hoping to inspire new volunteers to make hats, scarves and other wonderful creations for our various outreach projects. Men, women, girls and boys are welcome. We provide all materials and friendly teachers; you bring your determination and nimble fingers. We have a great time on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm in Room 202. If you have questions, please contact Judi Kallinger at 801-277-7353.

We’re also accepting donations of yarn (all types and colors), crochet thread and fiberfill stuffing.

Inquirers Class... begins September 19th
Sunday, September 19th, marks the starting date for our Inquirers Class, an excellent, no guilt, no-strings-attached way of learning more about the beliefs and practices of the Episcopal Church. In addition to any questions participants may raise, issues addressed in the series include questions regarding belief in God, the role of the Bible, the Church, sacraments, spiritual practices, an overview of church history and doctrinal development, how decisions are made in the Episcopal Church, and even a brief overview of the history of St. Paul’s parish. Whether you are interested in being received into the Episcopal Church or simply have an inquiring mind, this is the series for you!

Meetings will be held every Sunday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM from September 19th through November 14th, and each session will last approximately 60 minutes. All sessions will be held in the Parish Hall.

Cost per person is $11.00 for a copy of Your Faith, Your Life: An Invitation to the Episcopal Church, the text for the series. Bring a friend... everyone is welcome. To register, or if you have any questions, please contact Fr. Emil (801-322-5869 or rector@stpauls-slc.org).

Share with our Teens
Do you have a special skill or activity that you could share with St. Paul’s Youth Group? We are looking for individuals/teams to lead a single activity with the youth during this next school year. , tubing, hiking — you name it. We usually plan one fun activity per month, so you can also pick the best time for you. Just let Kathy (801-583-2089) or Jennifer (801-718-2123) know, or email: youth@stpauls-slc.org.

St. Paul's Preschool is now enrolling three- and four-year-olds for fall. Are you a family (or do you know one) searching for quality, nurturing childcare? Contact Rhonda Dossett at 801-521-6419 and she will be happy to answer your questions and/or schedule a tour of our school.

ECO TIP

Here’s a Green Lady Who Really Lived Up To Her Name!---The story goes like this: Multimillionaire investor Hetty Green (1834-1916) reportedly never used hot water, never heated her home, and wore the same black dress every day. She carried oatmeal to her bank job, then added water and cooked it on the radiator. Any takers to try to top her?
